May 2009: Presentation of the new free-standing product series
                   VarioPlus-free and BIGfree
VarioPlus-free is the free-standing addition to VarioPlus. Free-standing aluminum side sections can be combined with all elements in the VarioPlus line.
BIGfree is a new, trendy, free-standing line consisting of glass side sections and 8 cm thick shelves giving the system a unique air of artistry and elegance.

October 2008: Merger of Peko GmbH and Pekodom GmbH
The companies Peko GmbH and Pekodom GmbH, each active in different market sectors  (DIY and furniture store) were merged and will in future do business together under the name Pekodom GmbH.

October 2008: Remaining shares acquired by the Elfa Group 
The Elfa Group acquired the remaining shares in Peko GmbH and Pekodom GmbH with effect from October 31, 2008.

September 2008: VarioPlus launched at MOW trade fair
Our new home shelving system VarioPlus was launched with great success. VarioPlus is a system which adapts to the end-user, his requirements and ideas.
VarioPlus combines flexibility, individuality and elegance.

August 2008: Production of sliding doors starts
The production of sliding doors commenced at the Mönchengladbach site in August 2008. Custom-made sliding doors are manufactured under the brand name Elfa.

September 2007: Majority holding acquired by the Elfa Group
The Elfa-Group, based in Sweden, acquired a majority holding in the companies Peko GmbH and Pekodom GmbH in September 2007.
The Elfa Group is one of the world’s leading suppliers of customer-oriented storage solutions and sliding doors.
This takeover means that the Elfa Group, already the market leader in North America and Scandinavia, will be able to expand its market share in Europe.

The growing demand for decorative wall shelves makes it necessary for the company to expand its business to include furniture sales in Germany and abroad.
The company Pekodom GmbH was founded for this sales channel.
We offer merchandise displays and shop-in-shop systems tailored for this sales channel and the respective target groups in this market segment.

The company was founded in 1968 as a sales company for steel shelving systems in the DIY segment.
